In Genesis 12:1, the Bible tells us that God spoke to Abraham in those words: “The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. ” From that day, Abraham walked into the plan of God for his life. And the promise of the Lord was accomplished into his life. However, when he decided to do his own will, by getting a child with Agar, he left the path God had for him, and God did not talk to him anymore during thirteen years. He got a child, Ismael, but it was not the will of God for his life.
Sometimes, as children of God, we can walk outside the will of God for us, because we want to get something we know God does not want for us. It is the case of this sister who wants to marry an unbeliever, knowing well that God said in 2 Corinthians 6:15 that there is no relationship between believers and unbelievers, meaning that a true Christian cannot marry someone who is not born again. Might you agree or not, I am just telling you the truth of the word. Other situations could be mentioned, but the point here is to explain that you will be in the best place if you are into the will of God.
In the will of God, you have the protection of God, His security, His blessing, His spiritual growth. Note that in the unbelief of Abram which lead him to get a child who was not in the plan of God for him, Ismael, God stayed silent during thirteen years. In the same way, when you are no more into the will of God, you are no more guided by God. You are guided by your own feelings, your own emotions, your own thoughts. God has no more control. King Saul is a perfect expression of this idea. In 1 Samuel 28:6, the Bible says that King Saul consulted the Lord, but the Lord answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets. God did not respond because Saul was simply outside the will of God, and constantly disobeyed God.
Then, you have to understand that when you do not obey God, knowing that you are not into His will, you are walking in a way that will never bring you peace. God can bless you on this path, and He blessed Ismael, even so it was not from Him, but you will never get peace. It is better to walk into the will of God for your life. In this way, even so you want so much this thing into your life, make the decision to do what the Lord wants for you. It can be hard today, but one day, you will realize it was the best for you.
By walking into the will of God, you benefit of the promises of God into your life. Abraham, by dismissing Ismael and his mother, and waiting for the promise, obtained what he was promised: a son from his wife, Isaac. And he got an offspring as numerous as the sand of the beach and the stars of the sky, He became the father of faith for all generations, and all nations are blessed through him. In the same way, you cannot imagine the blessings you will get by obeying what God wants for your life. You can think that what you are getting into your own will seems good, but God has much better for you. Have faith, and you will see God working into your life.
Today, do not hesitate to trust the Lord, by walking into His will for your life. You will never regret it, and you will find peace and blessing on the way.
