The Bible says in Matthew 24:36-42: 36 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left. 42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. The Bible, in this passage, gives us a description of the state of the world at the time when he will come back. The comparison the Lord Jesus uses here is the state of the world at the time of Noah. To understand it, it is important to remind the context of this situation.
We find the context of this situation in Genesis 6: 9-17: “9 This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God. 10 Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth. 11 Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. 13 So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. 14 So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. 15 This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide and thirty cubits high. 16 Make a roof for it, leaving below the roof an opening one cubit high all around. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks. 17 I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish.” Because of the wickedness of men at Noah’s time, the Lord decided to destroy all life on earth. Seeing the righteousness of Noah, he ordered him to build an ark. At this time men were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, and they did not care about Noah’s ark. Indeed, Noah built his ark during 100 years, and while he was building his ark, men laughed at him. They laughed at him because Noah explained them that God had decided to judge the earth by killing all life on it. However, nobody believed in him until the flood happened. But it was too late, they all died.
This event reminds us of the gospel today. The gospel represents the ark of Noah, which is being preached to allow men to avoid the judgement of hell. Unfortunately, many men laugh at it and neglect this beautiful message. They consider it as a joke or something insignificant. But like when the flood happened, one day also Jesus will come back and will take with them those who believed in His message. They will “embark” in the ark of the gospel, while those who did not believe will stay outside this ark, by staying on earth.
It is important to remind this message today, in a time where deception becomes more and more subtle, even in the Church. For this reason, this post is addressed to Christians, who already heard this message, but who do not prepare themselves for His return. Dear beloved, Jesus Christ is coming back soon, whether you believe it or not. He will come back at a time that will surprise everyone. It will happen suddenly, and when it will happen many of us will be completely confused. We will cry, we will be angry, we will pray to God to take us, we will fast, we will study the Word of God, we will do anything to be closer to God like never before, but it will be too late. It will be at this time the reign of the Antechrist, but it is not the subject of this post. Then, while you can still prepare yourself to the return of Jesus Christ, do not be deceived by embracing a Christianity which is tolerant and open to all, which only talks about the love of God but never talks about what God hates, and which makes you accepted by the world. Such a Christianity is not from God, it is a lie from the devil. Like when men were laughing at Noah while he was building his ark, many people in the Church are today laughing at Christians who deeply want to live according to what the Bible says and refuse to corrupt themselves. Those who believe to be wise are in fact folling themselves, and those who are said to be fools are in fact the wise ones.
Then, I will end this post by asking the question that is related to the title of this post: when Jesus will come back, will you be ready? My second question is this one: does your Christianity prepares you to the return of Jesus Christ?
The only Christianity which prepares us to the return of Jesus Christ is the one which is conform to what the Bible says. If you know it is not the case for you, it is time to repent and to go back to Him, it is not too late.
Grow in Christ, Achieve His plan for your life.
God bless you for this powerful message Kingbo🙏🏽
