In Genesis 39:20-21, the Bible tells us what happened to Joseph after he was accused of attempt of rape on Potiphar’s wife. He was put in jail by his master, in the place where the king’s prisoners were confined.
However, even in the prison, the Lord was with Joseph, and allowed him to find favor in the eyes of the prison warden. In the middle of our sufferings, on our way with Christ, we can also sometimes have the impression to be in a prison. This prison can be a financial situation which longs to change, a family problem which never ends, a disease which is not healed even after multiple medical operations, fastings and prayers, a promise which takes long to be achieved, our friends who marry and us who always ask if we will find one day a partner, etc. All those things can represent for us a prison, because we will have the impression that God forgot us, and that we are stuck in a situation which apparently does not change. However, God teaches me through the life of Joseph that even in the deep of the prison, He was always there, and Joseph experienced the presence of God because He saw how God gave him favor.
What we have to understand is that Joseph was a man like us, and I am pretty sure that sometimes he had to be discouraged by the events he was living. Nonetheless, even so it was tough and painful, he never gave up his faith in God, he continued to believe that God would intervene. On the way of our faith in Christ, we always face hardships and struggles, and sometimes those situations could make us think that God abandoned us. But God is always there, He simply tests us to see if we believe in Him. And when we do not give up to believe in Him, He manifests His glory in our life. What you are living actually as believer, your hardships, your pains, your sufferings, are molding you to become the disciple of Christ God wants you to become. He cannot let you as you are, otherwise He would not be a loving God. Like Joseph, you must have the courage to continue to believe that God is with you and will never leave you. And we can see what was the result.
There is always a happy ending for those who keep faith in God despite hardships, sufferings and pains: God rewards their faith. Then, you have to realize that you are just going through a temporary situation, it is not permanent. One day, it will end, if you keep faith in Him.
Eeverything could justify a loss of faith in God in the life of Joseph, and maybe that some of us would have already gave up faith in God if we had been in the same situation. But Joseph did not let external situations influence his internal convictions, and he was right. In Christ, we do not live by sight, we live by faith. Our external situations should not make us react in a certain way, our faith in God should always guide our reactions. And it is what Joseph did.
You are on a way of glory by always keeping faith, do not be fooled by the lies of the devil if he tells you that your current situation will never change. God is not a liar, and what He promised to do, He will do it. Then, keep faith in God and persevere in Him, your story will one day fortify other believers who will go through the same way, like Joseph who continues to inspire us today. Do not consider as permanent a situation which is simply temporary.
In Genesis 41: 39-40, we can see that God remembered Joseph, and Joseph became prime minister of Egypt. It was an extraordinary outcome for someone who did not have any chance, absolutely any chance, to reach suddenly such a position. It was simply the grace and the blessing of God.
God knows what you are going through, and as a Father, He encourages you to keep faith in Him, because your story will not end in this situation, it will end in glory. If you don’t give up, there is a happy ending for you.
God loves you, and He knows when this situation will end. Trust Him.
